“Brief and Brilliant” is a bit of an intimidating charge! Luckily, we were given an incredibly helpful and supportive series of coaching sessions by Drs. Kim Bender and Shannon Silva from the University of Denver. I’m shy about sharing the video here, but I do firmly believe in the message. So…..please check it out!

I can’t believe this is finally here! We’ve been working on this project for about 18 months. By “we” I mean the team of 15 folks, including the 12 youth researchers from NYC, Richmond, VA, Anchorage, AK, and L.A.
I have to admit, I’ve been a little nervous about putting it out there. Not because I don’t think it is solid - IT IS SOLID. AND it is a direct reflection of these with the most expertise on the issue - LGBTQ+ young people with lived expertise. I’ve been nervous because I know that sometimes research (in particular research that occurs in academic settings) can be a competitive process. Perhaps I’m worried that people may discount this agenda in some way. Or take offense in some way. But then I thought - if there are people who don’t want to collaborate, then guess what? They won’t collaborate!
The part that I am most excited about people seeing is the section on research values. I really hope people will take a look! I’m figuring out how to make it downloadable on my site, but in the meantime, you can access it here.
It was such an honor to share my research with the SAGE team at CSWE last November. It’s important to me to find different avenues to share research findings, as I hope the work that I do will have an impact on the lives of the young people I work with. See the video here!
